A PICAXE microcontroller is designed to be the brain of your electronic project. Originally designed as an educational system for schools, the PICAXE system has now also been widely adopted by hundreds of thousands of 'hobbyists' due to its ease of use. Each year thousands of high school students to...

This low-cost project uses an 8 pin microcontroller to create a Xmas decoration with LED 'eyes' and a piezo sounder 'voice' that reacts to touch (via a push switch) and light (via a miniature LDR). Includes PCB and all components with PICAXE-08M2 chip
Rudolph is our ever popular Xmas special but is made year round
This project in an ideal introduction to electronics and first PICAXE project, using an 8 pin microcontroller to create a programmable interactive Christmas decoration with green LED 'eyes', a piezo sounder 'voice' that can play Christmas tunes and of course a large red flashing 'LED' nose.
Rudolph can be programmed to react to touch (via a push switch) and light (via a miniature LDR light sensor) and play a tune of your choice (naturally 'Rudolph the Rednose Reindeer' is always a popular choice!).
An optional infra-red sensor can also be added to the board so that you can switch Rudolph on and off with your TV remote control, or you can use the AXE108S Infrared Upgrade kit to build your own remote control.
The kit Includes PCB and all electronic components, including a PICAXE-08M2 chip. Requires simple soldering.
