How can I order from you?
Orders can be placed directly on this website, our server is super secure and there is no risk of encrypted data being read. If you have any questions about this please call us on (09-837-5020).
Target times (depend on the payment method chosen and the availability of stock)
Credit card orders
Usually be shipped within 1 business day plus the following:
North Island Courier Overnight (except Rural delivery)
South Island Courier 2 days, (except Rural delivery)
Rural Delivery courier add 2 days extra.
Freight on bulky orders varies from overnight to 4 days depending on area.
For both cost and speed it's best to have orders addressed to a business address.
Direct credit option
Orders are held until payment is cleared, then shipping is as above.
Shipping options and prices
Shipping options and prices are outlined on the website before checkout, we use PBT for Small orders and for larger (bulky items). The carriers we use offer the best service and security. If a shipping price is not correct we reserve the right to charge correctly. (we will contact you if more than $5 over amount calculated)
Rural delivery fees
Our courier (PBT) as per most courier companies, does not follow the same rural boundaries as NZ Post Rural (RD). Our shopping cart provides a way of checking your
address against the PBT zones, which will give you a clear answer on whether (Surplustronics) will be charged extra for your address. It is totally the responsibility of the customer to choose the Rural option if you are 'Rural delivery' on this checker. Choosing Rural will adjust the price charged for shipping.
IF the customer does not choose this option where needed, we will add the fee before we finalize your payment. It does cost us extra to service your address according to this checker tool.
Because we are limited to very strict 'missing item' rules by PBT, ALL 'missing items' claims MUST be done within 14 days from the date of order. Notification made outside this allowance will not be successful.
'Damage' claims are a whole different story: Carriers liability ends when a signature is obtained, PLEASE INSPECT ALL PACKAGES BEFORE SIGNING. just make them wait its their job!. Should damage be discovered before signing, either inspect further (test product) or reject the delivery, the courier will acknowledge this and we will be notified by them. At this stage please send us an email.
Making an Inquiry about an existing Order
If after 7 working days you have not seen your order, make an inquiry by email, quoting the order ID number (eg.45352) sent to you in an email and displayed on screen at the time of order. Without this ID number we cannot help you very easily.
Double Payment of Orders
Occasionally customers pay twice for their orders. This only happens when payment is made at the time of ordering (credit card) then a company's accounts dept gets excited and pays again at the EOM. There is absolutely no reason for it,
1) our receipts say clearly "Still to pay $0.00" right at the bottom and PAID in bold.
2) We do not offer accounts, ALL sales are pre-paid.
Because this oversight incurs actual costs to us, we have no choice but to pass them back to the customer. Upon discovering you have made double payment (your responsibility), give us a call (09 837 5020). You will be given a choice between a Refund minus an admin fee of $15, or a Store credit for full value.
Searching for products
Use our search engine (top right of screen) to track down products, or follow the category listings to narrow your hunt. Many products have extra data associated with them, just click on the code or picture for an exploded view or for access to more information.
Our search function is intuitive, but if you dont get the result you want, try alternative spelling as many items are spelled differently from what you might call it. Eg. Resistor / Resister, both are correct and common.
How do i login?
A login is created by yourself the first time you order from us. After that, each time you visit, simply login.
